Two teenagers injured after personal watercraft accident on Lake of the Ozarks

OSAGE BEACH, MO (KMIZ)

Two 15-year-old girls were injured Sunday afternoon after an accident between a waverunner and a pontoon boat on Lake of the Ozarks.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the 2-mile marker of the Grand Glaize Arm of the lake.

Officers reported that the two girls were riding a 2013 Yamaha Waverunner when they drove past a 2010 Playcraft and were struck. Both girls were thrown from the Waverunner.

The report states that the two girls on board the Waverunner are 15 years old. The driver, from Jefferson City, was transported to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.

The passenger, from Russellville, was also transported to Lake Regional Hospital and then flown by helicopter to University Hospital where he was seriously injured.

Both girls were wearing life vests, according to the report.

The Osage Beach Fire Protection District said crews responded to the crash in a Facebook post along with Mercy Ambulance, Osage Beach Ambulance and Miller County Ambulance.
