Two suspects arrested for resisting police in Cocoa Beach after recent string of retail thefts

$1,500 worth of alcohol allegedly stolen from local Winn-Dixie, police say

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Police recently investigated a series of retail thefts throughout the city.

According to the investigation, on May 31 at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near North Atlantic and Esther Drive.

After briefly speaking with the driver and passenger, the vehicle fled the scene.

The vehicle was later found parked on a dead-end street in the area, with the two suspects fleeing on foot.

Stephanie Richards and Demi Dussard of Fort Lauderdale were quickly apprehended nearby.

A tow inventory of the vehicle revealed approximately $1,500 worth of alcohol, which was believed to have been stolen from the local Winn-Dixie.

Additionally, hundreds of suspected stolen items from various cities have been recovered.
The initial costs are:
– Stephanie Richards is charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and resisting an officer without violence
–Demi Dussard is accused of resisting an officer without violence

The Cocoa Beach Police Department has linked these two suspects to multiple thefts in our city and is working with other agencies to finalize charges.

This is an ongoing investigation.
