Two slain terrorists identified as Pakistani nationals, army says

Over the past few weeks, there have been constant reports of the movement of a terrorist group in the Sopore-Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. On June 19, 2024, JKP received specific intelligence that two terrorists were holed up in a house in Hadipura village of Rafiabad area. As a result, the Indian Army, JKP and CRPF launched a joint operation, quickly cordoning off the area.

Following standard procedures, civilians were safely evacuated from adjacent houses and the area was secured. The targeted house was carefully cordoned off and, as soon as the search began, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. During the exchanges of fire that followed, two terrorists were neutralized.

The slain terrorists were identified as Usman and Umar, both of Pakistani origin and associated with the LeT. Usman has been active in the Kashmir Valley since 2020. Large quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered after the operation.

The elimination of these terrorists is another major success for the security forces. Over the past months, security forces have maintained a high operational tempo, which has achieved major results. This success is also attributed to the full cooperation of the Kashmiri people.

Security forces will continue to make sustained efforts to maintain peace and stability in Kashmir.
