Two people seriously injured in south Charlotte shooting, MEDIC says – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE — Two people were seriously injured in a shooting in south Charlotte Tuesday evening, paramedics said.

A mother told Channel 9 her car was also hit while she and her three children were inside.

It happened just before 8 p.m. on High Meadows Lane, off Archdale Drive. The neighborhood is home to Archdale Flats apartments.

A convenience store, Archdale Mini Mart & Laundry, was the focus of the crime scene investigation.

MEDIC said two people whose lives were in danger were taken to hospital.

It's unclear what exactly led to the shooting, but Channel 9 is working to find out more.

Shardae Foster and her three children, ages 10, 6 and 3, were in their car when the shooting occurred. She said she had just pulled into the convenience store parking lot to buy snacks for her children when she saw the shooter pointing his gun.

“I had to get [the kids] on the ground and keep them on the ground,” she said. “The windshield, you could hear the glass shattering. I had glass all over my back because I had to cover them.

“Scary enough to make my legs shake.” And scary enough to make my mom cry,” one of the children told Channel 9’s Joe Bruno.

Foster is grateful that she and her babies were unharmed. She told Bruno she wanted to move her car when she saw the gun but was afraid.

She also said at least one of the victims was an innocent bystander.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not announced any arrests or details about the shooting.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
