Two people hospitalized after Kroger shooting

COLERAIN — Two people were hospitalized after an officer-involved shooting at a Kroger in southwest Ohio on Wednesday.

The Colerain Police Department said the shooting happened at a Kroger on Springdale Road. They responded to shots fired Wednesday before 4 p.m. and when they arrived, the situation escalated, they said.

Police said two suspects were involved in the shooting. At one point, a police officer intervened and fired his weapon. One of the suspects attempted to flee, but both were arrested.

Two people were transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital with gunshot wounds. The shooting is currently under investigation and it is unclear whether those taken to the hospital were the suspects. Police said the officer was fine.

Colerain police gave the green light Wednesday afternoon for people to remove their cars from the Kroger parking lot, but said the store will remain closed while the investigation continues.
