Two people arrested in series of car break-ins in Volusia County, sheriff's office says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL – Two people were arrested in a series of car break-ins in which several stolen guns were exchanged for drugs in Volusia County, the sheriff's office said.

The suspects were identified Thursday as Alexzander Robles, 18, and a 17-year-old whose name News 6 is not releasing.

Robles is charged with burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, burglary with a weapon, petty theft and grand theft of a firearm, records show. The sheriff's office said on social media that each of the suspects has been charged in seven cases under the agency's jurisdiction and that additional charges from several area police departments remain on the table.

According to the post, firearms stolen from three vehicles were exchanged for narcotics in Daytona Beach. Detectives also recovered two potentially stolen firearms, magazines, ammunition, a ski mask and other evidence during a search of Roble's room, the post said.

Detectives are working on possible connections to cases from Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach, according to the sheriff's office.

Robles was booked early Thursday and is being held without bail, records show.
