Two people arrested in Mechanicville on robbery and assault charges

MECHANICVILLE, NY (NEWS10) — The Mechanicville Police Department reported two people were arrested in connection with a robbery investigation. Jordan Barton, 20, of Kingston, and Aiden Hungerschafer, 18, of Schenectady, both face numerous charges.

On June 7 at 9 p.m., police responded to Park and Central avenues in Mechanicville for a report of a theft in progress. When police arrived, they found an injured young victim who claimed to have been attacked by two men.


Police say the suspects stole money from the victim before fleeing the scene. Barton and Hungerschafer were identified as suspects and officers located their vehicle a short time later.

Police executed a search warrant on the car and found the stolen money, leading to the arrest of Barton and Hungerschafer. They now face the following charges:

  • Second degree theft
  • Second degree assault
  • Fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

Both Barton and Hungerschafer were arraigned in Mechanicville Municipal Court. Barton was remanded into the Saratoga County Jail, while Hungerschafer had several outstanding local arrest warrants and was released to the custody of those respective agencies, according to Mechanicville police.
