Two people arrested in Ithaca for drug possession/sale

ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — Two men were arrested in Ithaca this week after police suspected them of having a large amount of fentanyl.

According to the Ithaca Police Department, Devon A. Jenkins, 30, and a 35-year-old man, both from Ithaca, were arrested Tuesday, June 11, after officers observed suspected drug dealing take place on State Street.

Police said an investigation followed the drug deal, which led them to arrest Jenkins and find in his possession 27 glass envelopes containing suspected fentanyl and sux bags containing suspected heroin.

Jenkins was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony.
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance in or near a schoolyard, a class B felony.

Jenkins was arraigned and seen in court before being taken to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.

The 35-year-old man was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, and was released on bond.
