Two people arrested in connection with separate shootings in Durham; money and drugs found, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people were arrested Wednesday in connection with two separate shootings: one that occurred earlier this week and another that took place in March, according to the Durham Police Department.

At 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound in the 1100 block of Fayetteville Street. Police found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, Destiny Daniel, 28, was arrested in the 900 block of Fayetteville Street in connection with the shooting. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Christopher Turner, 26, was arrested at the same time in the 900 block of Fayetteville Street. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon found guilty.

Police said the charges are related to a March 31 shooting near the intersection of Fayetteville Street and Linwood Avenue, where two men were seriously injured.

Turner and Daniel were also found with two pistols (one stolen), an AR-15 pistol, several quantities of narcotics, and $3,156 in cash.

Police said Turner was a convicted felon and had been charged with two other charges for possessing firearms as a convicted felon. He was also charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing and various drug offenses, including two counts of trafficking.

Daniel was given a $500,000 secured bond and Turner is being held without bond.
