Two people arrested after shooting in Columbus Junction | KCII Radio

Two men were arrested Sunday in Columbus Junction after an altercation resulted in gunfire. At approximately 4:04 a.m. on May 26, the Columbus Junction Police Department and the Louisa County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at 201 ½ Main Street.

According to a press release from the Columbus Junction Police Department, it was determined that a physical altercation had taken place and a handgun had been brandished. One of the parties to the altercation was leaving the scene in a vehicle, along with a woman and a young child, when Elijah M. Doss, 25, of Burlington, fired several shots on the vehicle. No injuries were reported, but damage was caused to the victim's vehicle and the Washington State Bank building.

Doss was taken into custody without incident at 6:53 a.m. He was charged with attempted murder, a class B felony, two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, each a class C felony , two counts of criminal mischief, each a class D felony. , being armed with intent, also a class D felony, child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and reckless use of a firearm, also an aggravated offense. He was taken to the Louisa County Jail on $250,000 cash-only bail. A preliminary hearing for Doss is scheduled for Friday, June 7

Additionally, Jonathan Martinez, 24, of Winfield, was arrested in connection with the initial altercation and charged with child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanor, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, both simple misdemeanors. He was taken into custody without incident and his preliminary trial will take place on Tuesday, June 18.

The Louisa County Prosecutor's Office, Burlington Police Department and West Liberty Police Department also assisted in the case.
