Two organ trafficking complaints received, 3 arrests made: Kerala CM | News from India

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday informed the state Assembly that the state police were investigating complaints alleging that organ trafficking was taking place in the state and several arrests had been made carried out in this regard.

Responding to a question on organ trafficking, Vijayan said three people have been arrested so far in a case registered in Nedumbassery of Ernakulam district.

“A complaint has been filed by a resident of Malappuram, alleging that two private hospitals in Ernakulam have links with the international organ trade mafia. The second complaint relates to illegal organ transplantation from Thiruvananthapuram,” it said. he declared.

In the Nedumbassery case, he said three people have been arrested and a process has been initiated to issue a Blue Corner notice through Interpol for the main accused Madhu Jayakumar, who is on the run.

A 13-member police team is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, police are investigating illegal organ transplantation from Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan added.

According to reports, women from poor financial backgrounds were exploited by the agents.
