Two missing, boat found empty

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – On Wednesday, May 15 at approximately 7 p.m., Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report that an empty skiff had been found upside down on the shore of FAIRBANKS Beach. 'Ekuk, in the Dillingham census area.

Authorities say Rachelle Johnson, a 29-year-old Dillingham resident, took the 18-foot Lund boat on Monday, May 13, and left Dillingham with Carl Nunn, 36, around 2 p.m., telling people they were were heading towards Ekuk to go fishing. . Neither gave an expected return date and could not be reached by phone.

No footprints were seen on the beach around the skiff when it was discovered Wednesday, and various equipment was scattered around.

AST conducted an aerial search over Nushagak Point, Clark's Point and Ekuk and no clues were observed. Troopers say they contacted community members in the village of Ekuk as well as surrounding villages to determine if Johnson and Nunn were safe, but so far no one has reported seeing either person.

Johnson is 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown hair and eyes and a lip piercing. Nunn is 5 feet 9 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, and tattoos on his chest and upper right arm.
