Two men killed in Highway 54 crash identified

TURBOTVILLE – A Lewistown man and a Williamsport driver were the two men killed in a car crash last week in Montour County. State Police told us today that Homer Rice, 55, of Lewistown, was driving a tri-axle dump truck at an unsafe speed and crashed into the oncoming lane of Highway 54.

The truck collided head-on with a tractor-trailer: Robert Sholder, 39, of Williamsport, was driving the tractor-trailer and also died at the scene. Louise Anne Everest, 62, of Muncy, was injured and was transported to Geisinger for her injuries. Mark Cassel, of Turbotville, said there were “no injuries” in the crash.
