Two men arrested in connection with May 14 shooting in Americus

AMERICUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Americus Police Department has arrested two men in connection with a shooting that occurred in May.

Christopher Darrell Lembrick, Jr., 19, and Lavarous Jermaine Rumph, Jr., 18, face multiple charges in relation to the Michael Gage Grimes shooting.


Lembrick and Rumph are both charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In addition to those charges, each man faces additional charges related to his arrest.

  • Lembrick is charged with obstruction of law enforcement and possession of Schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute.
  • Rumph is charged with giving a false name to law enforcement and possession of Class I narcotics with intent to distribute.

The two men were arrested at a residence on Beale Street in Americus.

The arrests date back to May, when officers responded to a report of a shooting near the 500 block of Eastview Drive. in Americus. When they arrived, they found Grimes suffering from a gunshot wound in a black Ford Fusion.

Grimes was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center by EMS where he was stabilized and then transported to a trauma center for further treatment.
