Two men arrested for armed carjacking, robbery in Silver Spring

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland (DC News Now) — Montgomery County police said they are still searching for a third suspect after arresting two men in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred in Silver Spring on Tuesday.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) said three men approached a man as he entered his apartment building around 2 a.m. in the 1900 block of East West Highway.

The suspects pulled out a gun and demanded the victim's car keys and phone.

After complying, the man ran back to his apartment and called police while the suspects drove away in his 2021 Toyota Camry.

Police found two of the suspects and the victim's car the next day.

They were identified as Ruben Ramirez, 19, of Laurel, and Darrell Alvin Brown, 20, of Germantown. Officers found a handgun near the front passenger seat when they were arrested.

According to MCPD, police charged Ramirez and Brown with armed robbery, armed carjacking, assault and multiple counts of robbery and use of firearms. They are being held without bail.

Detectives continue to search for the third suspect.
