Two men arrested after 21-year-old stabbed to death in Deptford

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old man was killed in Deptford on Thursday.

Police were called at 10.35pm on Thursday June 6 following reports of a stabbing in Carteret Way.

Emergency services intervened but despite all their efforts, the victim died instantly.

Officers have since identified the victim as Robert Robinson, 21, who lived locally.

A post-mortem examination on Saturday found Mr Robinson's cause of death to be “multiple incised wounds”.

Police said one of the men, aged 50, had been released on bail pending further investigation, while a 44-year-old man remained in custody.

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey said: “This is a horrific crime committed by people who chose to arm themselves with weapons and wreak havoc on our communities.

“A young man has died in brutal circumstances and his family is in mourning.

“We need to piece together the events that led to the attack on Robert. The incident occurred on a residential street, Carteret Way, at a time when many people were likely at home.

“I believe the local community holds the key to solving this crime, and any information, no matter how small, can help us achieve justice for Robert’s family.”

“If you have captured footage of the attack or precursor events, we have opened an online portal where you can upload videos or images – and this can be completed anonymously if you wish.”
