Two killed in stolen car crash identified as former Portland high school students

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Two people killed in a stolen car crash last week in Southeast Portland have been identified as former Ida B. Wells High School students.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 25, when Gresham police attempted to stop a car on Southeast 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. Police say the driver failed to stop and ended up crashing into another car and a utility pole a few blocks away.

Police later learned the car had been stolen.

Two people are dead and another is seriously injured after a stolen car crashed early Tuesday morning.

Cole “CJ” Johnson, a graduate of Ida B. Wells University, suffered life-threatening injuries and is recovering. Two other people in the stolen car, Dylan Brasky and Jayden Rolon-Ekis, died in the crash.

The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.

Brasky and Rolon-Ekis were sophomores at Ida B. Wells who had recently transferred to PCC, according to a letter from Principal Ayesha Coning.

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of Dylan and Jayden, and we continue to wish CJ a full recovery,” Principal Coning said in the letter to Ida B. Wells staff, students and families.

The school said it would offer counselling services to support staff and students once the new academic year begins.
