Two more of the four people who died when their car crashed at the end of a police chase in Upland have been identified.

Michael Adrian Gomez, 17, of Pomona, and Joel Jeremiah Silva, 16, of Fontana, died when the car they were in collided with another car and then struck a utility pole at the corner of 16th Street and Mountain Avenue on June 28, the San Bernardino County coroner's office said Monday (July 1).

Jesus Guillen Jr., a 16-year-old Fontana resident, was previously identified as one of the victims. The name of the fourth person has not been publicly released. A 13-year-old boy, the fifth person in the Hyundai, survived. Authorities have not said who was driving the Hyundai.

Around 1:50 a.m. Friday, San Bernardino County sheriff's officers attempted to stop the Hyundai near Foothill Boulevard and Archibald Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga, suspecting the driver was under the influence of alcohol, the department said. The driver led officers on a six-minute, high-speed chase before crashing into a Mustang.

The two Ontario residents of Mustang, a 35-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were hospitalized as a precaution.

On Monday, the department, citing the ongoing investigation, would not say whether officers broke off the pursuit at any point or how fast the Hyundai was going. Officers in pursuit typically announce how fast a suspect car is going, and communications between officers and dispatchers are recorded for later review.

The Upland Police Department, which is investigating the collision portion of the confrontation, could not be reached for comment Monday.
