Two injured in Peters Township fire

Two people, including a firefighter, were injured in a fire Tuesday evening.

Two people suffered minor injuries following a house fire in Peters Township Tuesday evening.

According to a news release from the Peters Township Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 119 Clearview Drive around 10:43 p.m.

Firefighters said flames were visible at the rear of the home and on the first and second floors. The owner was not at home when the fire broke out and discovered it when she returned.

According to firefighters, one person was hospitalized for evaluation and a firefighter also suffered minor injuries.

“The fire appears to have started inside the home, near the rear of the structure. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause and origin, but this information is not available at this time,” the release said.

It took crews about 30 minutes to get the fire under control, and they spent an additional two hours putting out hot spots.

With this week's heat wave, firefighters said they need additional EMS crews on standby.

Peters Township Police also responded to the scene, along with the North Strabane and Upper St. Clair fire departments. Tri-Community South and South Bridge EMS also assisted.
