Two drivers arrested after crash on I-495 injuring police officer

Two drivers were arrested this morning (Tuesday) for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in connection with a crash on I-495 in Annandale that injured a state trooper.

According to Virginia State Police, one of their troopers was dispatched to the Capital Beltway, near the Little River Turnpike exit, around 3 a.m. for a sedan that was reportedly stopped in an oncoming lane. north.

The impact of this crash caused the Jeep to turn around and hit the trooper's patrol car, which then hit the sedan, which then hit the trooper… while the trooper was standing next to the driver's side of the sedan.

The trooper suffered minor injuries and was transported to Fairfax INOVA Hospital for evaluation. The officer's patrol car was positioned behind the sedan with its emergency lights activated.
