Two detained for distributing videos of alleged sexual abuse of women by Prajwal Revanna

The Special Investigation Team, probing allegations of sexual abuse involving Hassan Prajwal MP Revanna, on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly circulating USB drives containing explicit videos of the said abuse on several women allegedly carried out by the JD(S) leader.

According to police sources, the two people were arrested while appearing before the High Court. SIT detectives picked them up and took them for questioning.

They allegedly distributed USB drives containing videos showing women being sexually assaulted, allegedly by Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.

The videos went viral on social media and the state government formed the SIT on April 28 to probe the matter after the Karnataka State Commission for Women wrote a letter to the chief minister Siddaramaiah demanding an investigation into the accusations.

Prajwal, 33, the NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, reportedly left the country on April 27, a day after the polls, and did not respond to the SIT's summons to appear before it.

Interpol issued a Blue Corner notice and a court issued an arrest warrant for the “fugitive” MP.

A video surfaced on Monday in which Prajwal said that he would appear before the SIT on May 31.

Reacting, BJP state president BY Vijayendra said he welcomed Prajwal's decision to return to India and cooperate in the investigation.

“All I want to say is that without much discussion of right or wrong…you are a public representative, you must face it (probe) boldly. Several doubts have arisen over the past one and a half years .Prajwal must put an end to it and must join the investigation He has also agreed to appear before the special investigation team, I am happy about it,” Vijayendra said.
