Two dead in crash near Villard Saturday – West Central Tribune

VILLARD — Two men were killed Saturday around 7:41 p.m. in a two-vehicle crash near Villard on Minnesota Route 28 and Pope County Route 57. Nicholas Conrad Bergman, 39, of Oakdale and Isaac Mitchell Carlson, 33, of Glenwood, were identified. The deaths were recorded by the Minnesota State Patrol on Sunday.

According to the State Patrol incident report, the 2013 Ford Fusion, driven by Bergman, was heading east on Minnesota Highway 28, while the 2021 Ram 1500 Pickup, driven by Carlson, was heading west . The two vehicles collided head-on near the intersection of Highway 28 and Pope County Road 57 in Pope County.

Both Bergman and Carlson were wearing seat belts and it is unclear if alcohol played a role, the State Patrol said. Road conditions were dry.

The State Patrol, Villard Fire Department, Villard First Responders, Pope County Sheriff's Office, Starbuck Police Department and Glenwood Police Department assisted at the scene.
