Two dead in Charlestown fire

CHARLESTOWN, NH – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Fire Chief Mark LaFlam and Charlestown Police Chief Patrick Connors announce a fire has occurred on 1B Crown Point Drive in Charlestown on June 6, 2024. Two victims died as a result of this fire.

A 9-1-1 call was received shortly before 7 a.m. with a report of smoke coming from a mobile home. When Charlestown firefighters arrived and entered, they found a deceased adult male inside. After the fire was extinguished, a second deceased victim was found. It was an adult female. No other injuries were reported.

Positive identification of the victims and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy, which will take place at the NH State Medical Examiner's Office in Concord, NH on June 7, 2024.

The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the NH State Fire Marshal's Office and the Charlestown Fire and Police Departments.

State Fire Marshal Toomey would like to remind all citizens of the importance of having working smoke detectors in your home.
