Two Arrested After Chase Near LaPorte County-Porter County Border – 95.3 MNC

A pursuit near the LaPorte County-Porter County border led to two arrests.

On Saturday, June 29, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Trooper Nicholas Isajczuk was patrolling I-94 near the Porter-LaPorte county line when he spotted a gray Toyota SUV speeding with no headlights or taillights. Although it was traveling at speeds of over 110 mph, the trooper eventually caught up to it as the SUV pulled onto the shoulder to pass another car.

The chase continued on U.S. Highway 421 toward Michigan City and then back west on U.S. 20. The chase ended in front of the Pilot Truck Stop in Porter, Indiana. The driver, Mohamed A. Ahamed Ahrar, 26, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was arrested after failing a chemical test with a blood alcohol level of 0.09 percent. It was revealed that his passenger, Joshua C. Reed, 32, of Chicago, Illinois, urged him to stop but was ignored.

Reed was found in possession of ketamine and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both men were taken to the LaPorte County Jail.
