Two accused of using fake prescriptions for opioid pills multiple times arrested in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Two people were arrested after the Decatur Police Department (DPD) received multiple reports involving pharmacies forging prescriptions for multiple quantities of opioid pills during the month of May.

Upon further investigation, the DPD Vice/Narcotics Unit identified the primary suspect as Grace Kaylan Whitten. Through information gathered during the investigation, 14 arrest warrants were obtained for Whitten.

On Thursday, June 13, officers found Whitten in the 1900 block of South Brownstone Court South West.

Whitten was arrested and charged with:

  • two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument (1st degree)
  • four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
  • two counts of attempting to commit a controlled substance crime
  • six counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument (4th degree)

She was booked into the Morgan County Jail on $131,800 bail.

According to DPD, a second person identified as Robert Andrew Brown is accused of assisting during the scheme. On Monday, June 24, officers found Brown in the 2100 block of Westmead Drive Southwest.

Brown was arrested and charged with the following:

  • two counts of possession of a forged instrument (1st degree)
  • two counts of intent to distribute
  • attempt to commit a controlled substance crime

Brown was booked into the Morgan County Jail on $85,000 bail.
