Two accused of throwing acid in Kansas teen's face

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement is investigating a violent attack on a Kansas teenager, has made one arrest and continues to search for another suspect.

Shortly after noon on May 26, police responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of N Dodge in Wichita, according to Wichita Police Capt. Aaron Moses. The victim in this case, an 18-year-old girl, later arrived at an area hospital with second-degree burns to her face and neck believed to be caused by a suspect throwing an acidic liquid on her during a a physical fight. It does not appear to be a random incident.

Immediately following the incident, investigators from WPD's Felony Assault Unit along with patrol officers began searching for three suspects. On June 5, officers from the Patrol North Community Response Team located and arrested two 18-year-old suspects. According to Sedgwick County booking records, Ye'Kira Acoya Hollins and Tayronnia Jontashia West are being held on charges of aggravated battery.

Investigators are still trying to locate a third suspect, a 16-year-old black woman from Topeka.
