Tuscaloosa police identify victim killed in shooting, ask for witnesses

Police have identified the man who was shot Thursday night at a west Tuscaloosa home and are asking any witnesses to come forward and share what they know.

Capt. Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Friday afternoon that the investigation into a deadly shooting on 33rd Avenue in Tuscaloosa is ongoing.

Kennedy said Tuscaloosa Police officers went to the home around 10 p.m. on reports of a shooting.

They found Christopher Shobe, 34, suffering from at least one gunshot wound at the scene.

Shobe was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries, Kennedy said.

No arrests have been made yet and Kennedy said VCU is actively investigating the case with its homicide response-at-all-costs method.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-212,” Kennedy said. “You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 205-752-STOP (7867) to leave confidential, anonymous tips and be eligible for cash rewards.”
