Türkiye: 52 irregular migrants on their way to Italy and two suspected traffickers arrested

Turkish Coast Guard stopped a boat off Bodrum, Mugla province, en route to Italy, arresting 52 irregular migrants, including 15 children, and two suspected human traffickers. This was announced yesterday by the command of the Turkish Coast Guard in a press release published by the Anadolu news agency, without specifying either the date of the operation or the nationality of the migrants. The same press release specifies that the Turkish coast guard arrested hundreds of irregular migrants in several cities in the west of the country.

As stated in the press release: 39 irregular migrants were arrested off the coast of Ayvacik, Canakkale province; 122 irregular migrants and two human trafficking suspects arrested off Bodrum district; 139 irregular migrants, including 49 children, were arrested off the coast of Urla, Cesme and Dikili districts in Izmir province; off the coast of Urla and Cesme, coastguard teams blocked three rubber boats, arresting 117 irregular migrants, including 45 children; 22 irregular migrants, including four children, and a suspected human trafficker were arrested off the coast of Dikili; 62 other irregulars, including 18 children, were arrested off Bodrum and Marmaris districts; finally, ten irregular migrants, including three children, and two people suspected of human trafficking were arrested in Namlialan Bay, in the Marmaris district, during an operation carried out by the coast guard and the command of the Bozburun gendarmerie.
