TSA worker accused of shooting Romulus man on highway

Alec Nicholas Thieman, 28, of Delta, Ohio, has been charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 46-year-old Romulus man.

The Transportation Security Administration employs Thieman.

The incident occurred at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, while driving northbound on I-275 near Pennsylvania Road in Huron Township when Thieman allegedly produced and fired a weapon fired, hitting the 46-year-old man's vehicle.

Authorities say the victim was not shot during the shooting.

Thieman was charged with assault with intent to kill, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, reckless driving, commission of a felony with a motor vehicle and three counts of felony firearm charge.

He was arraigned Friday, June 14 morning in 34th District Court and given a $250,000 cash bond.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for June 26 at 8:30 a.m.

“TSA is aware of the charges against Alec Thieman. We can confirm that he has been an employee of the TSA since 2017 and has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. Given the ongoing investigation by local law enforcement, we are referring further inquiries to the Michigan State Police.
