Trump's gun license will be revoked after conviction, media reports | Donald Trump

Donald Trump's gun license is expected to be revoked by the New York Police Department now that he has been convicted of a crime, according to reports released Wednesday evening.

The former president once bragged about being so popular with the electorate: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and I wouldn't lose a single voter.” » He made the assertion in January 2016 during the Iowa caucuses.

Trump's permit to carry a concealed weapon was suspended in April last year after he was charged with falsifying documents to conceal a payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, according to CNN.

Today, the New York Police Department is preparing to completely revoke Trump's license, CNN first reported, followed by NBC, the latter citing a police spokesperson.

Last week, Trump was convicted of 34 counts stemming from a hush money scheme to influence the 2016 election, including falsifying business records.

Prosecutors successfully argued that Trump falsely recorded the payment he made to Michael Cohen, his former lawyer and fixer, to cover fees paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, $130,000 in exchange of her silence about an affair with Trump.

Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 election, will retain certain privileges not afforded to all American criminals. It appears he will still be able to vote in the November election, as New York – the state where the secret trial took place – is one of 23 states where people convicted of a crime can vote as long as they are not incarcerated.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, but experts say he is unlikely to serve any prison time. Trump denounced this historic conviction as a “rigged trial”.
