Truck fire causes major delays on I-95 in Philadelphia – NBC10 Philadelphia

Motorists face heavy traffic on I-95 in Philadelphia after firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer fire.

The jackknifed truck caught fire around 4:45 a.m. Friday on southbound I-95 at Exit 25 (Allegheny Avenue, Castor Avenue) near the Betsy Ross Bridge. The truck's driver was able to escape, and responding firefighters brought the blaze under control shortly before 5:30 a.m.

All lanes of I-95 were initially closed due to the fire. All lanes of northbound I-95 and the shoulder of southbound I-95 were reopened around 6 a.m.

SkyForce10 was on the scene shortly after 6 a.m., showing the charred remains of the truck.

Authorities have not yet revealed the cause of the fire or the driver's condition.

There are currently heavy delays on I-95 southbound between Exit 26 (Venango Street) and Exit 23 (Girard Avenue) as crews work to remove the remains of the truck.

Drivers on the Pennsylvania side of I-95 can take Roosevelt Boulevard (Route 1) southbound to I-76 to bypass traffic. New Jersey drivers, meanwhile, can take the Betsy Ross Bridge to Route 130, then Route 30 to I-676.
