Tripura man arrested for alleged involvement in human trafficking

In a significant development, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Tripura has apprehended a young man allegedly involved in human trafficking.

Identified as Jhutan Dutta, the suspect was arrested from Matai area of ​​Belonia sub-division of Southern District.

The arrest follows a meticulous operation by Agartala GRP following the arrest of four Bangladeshi women for illegally crossing the state border.

These women were intercepted by GRP officers at Agartala railway station and then taken into custody.

“After questioning the detained Bangladeshi women, it was revealed that Jhutan Dutta, residing in Matai area under Belonia police station, helped them enter the state illegally,” said officer-in-charge Tapas Das from Agartala Police Station GRP.

Authorities further revealed that Jhaton Datta has a criminal record, including a pending case at the Guwahati branch of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

“Together with Tripura Police in Belonia, we arrested Jhutan Dutta, who was later handed over to the court on Sunday seeking police remand,” added OC Tapas Das.
