Triple stabbing in New York's East Village leaves one dead

NEW YORK, New York – Police responded to multiple stabbing incidents Sunday around 5:43 p.m. near Avenue A and East 14th Street in the 9th Ward.

When they arrived, the police found three individuals suffering from stab wounds. A 38-year-old man suffered a serious stab wound to the neck and was later pronounced dead at NYC Health+Hospitals/Bellevue.

Additionally, a 51-year-old woman, stabbed in the leg, is in critical condition, and a 32-year-old man, stabbed in the back, is in stable condition.

A 30-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, where a sharp instrument was also found. The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of family.

  • Off-duty New York school security officer arrested for felony weapons possession

    NEW YORK, New York – An off-duty New York City employee was arrested and charged at 4:54 p.m. Sunday at Precinct 103.

    Eric Gillespie, a 47-year-old NYPD school safety officer, was taken into custody.

    He faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon – 4th Degree.

    HARRISBURG, PA – A homicide investigation is currently active in the 200 block of State Street following a report of shots fired on Sunday, June 23 around 5:30 p.m. Harrisburg Police quickly responded to the scene where they found an adult male deceased from gunshot wounds.

    A person of interest was quickly arrested by police near the scene. A crime scene was established and detectives began a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.

    The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available. Harrisburg Police continue to review evidence and are working diligently to determine the events that led to this tragic incident.

  • Two people arrested after attack on young boy and his mother in Delaware Park

    CAPE HENLOPEN, DE – Two men were arrested following an altercation involving a 7-year-old child and his mother at Cape Henlopen State Park, as reported by Delaware Natural Resources Police. The incident occurred near the park's fishing pier on Saturday, June 22, around 4:30 p.m.

    The suspects, identified as Phillip A. Hartana, 22, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Nicholas D. Edwards, 22, of Wilmington, Delaware, were playing Spike Ball at low tide. The situation escalated when a child attempted to join their play and was pushed away, leading Hartana to splash aggressively and then submerge the child underwater for several seconds. The child, who had new bleeding scratches, reported the incident to his mother.

    When the mother confronted Hartana, Nicholas D. Edwards intervened by shoving her twice. This prompted her to call 911. After their arrest, both men were taken to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department for processing.

    Phillip A. Hartana faces charges including third-degree child abuse, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Nicholas D. Edwards is charged with offensive touching and disorderly conduct. Both were arraigned via video before Justice of the Peace 3, with Hartana receiving a $3,000 unsecured bond and Edwards a $300 unsecured bond.

  • I68 reopened following tractor-trailer fire

    ALLEGANY COUNTY, MD – The Allegany County Sheriff's Office announced the reopening of I68 after a significant disruption caused by a tractor-trailer fire. The incident occurred Sunday evening on eastbound I68 near the 40 mile marker, resulting in the complete closure of all lanes.

    Authorities had urged motorists to avoid the area, anticipate delays and seek alternative routes while emergency services dealt with the situation. Four hours after the initial closure, the road was cleared and normal traffic resumed.
