Travis Miller arrested in Poway after SWAT standoff

POWAY, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An altercation between roommates escalated into violence in Poway Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, a call came in around 1:30 p.m. from a man reporting that his roommate had attacked him with a box cutter. The victim suffered abrasions during the altercation.


Officers from the Poway Sheriff's Department responded to the scene of the incident, which was located in the 13000 block of York Avenue. Once there, authorities attempted to de-escalate the situation, while also trying to convince the suspect to come out of the home and surrender peacefully. Despite these efforts, authorities said the man refused to leave the home.

An air support helicopter was called in to help officers monitor the situation, the department said. The Sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Enforcement Detachment and deputy dog ​​handlers also arrived on scene.

About six hours later, shortly after 8 p.m., the suspect, identified as Travis Bradley Miller, 32, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor charges including assault with a deadly weapon and violating his probation.
