Trafficking racket: Cops investigate possibility of larger trafficking | Vadodara News

Vadodara: Dahod Police investigating human trafficking The case attempts to determine whether the defendants were involved in similar crimes earlier. Investigations revealed that the young girl abandoned by her lover had fallen into the hands of the accused.
The girl was kidnapped by Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) jawan Lilesh Charpot in December 2022. Charpot had promised to keep the girl as his wife and asked her to go to Surat where he would meet him.Charpot never went to Surat and the girl was spotted at the bus stop by Satyam alias Rahul Singh who took her to a hotel and raped her.
According to Dahod police, it has so far appeared that Charpot was not linked to meat trafficking. “His mistake was kidnapping the girl and not finding the courage to go with her. If Charpot had accompanied her as promised, the young girl would not have found herself in a flesh traffickingsaid Dahod Police Commissioner Dr Rajdeepsinh Zala.
Similarly, even though Satyam was not part of the racket, he had seen the girl alone at the Surat bus stop and instigated her to accompany him. He raped her and abandoned her at Udhna railway station. From there, the girl was drawn into the sex trade.
It was Anandsingh Thakur, a resident of Surat belonging to UP, who spotted the girl at the railway station. “He took her to Poojadevi aka Sariya Pathan. She was involved in the sex trade under the guise of a beauty salon. Anandsingh lived with her and helped her in her business,” Zala said. They then took her to Varanasi after five days and pushed her into the meat trade there.
After seven months, the duo handed the girl over to Virendrasingh Yadav, an electrician, who sexually exploited her before handing her over to Akanksha alias Shabhambano Pathan who forced her into prostitution for 10 months. Pathan was also involved in sex trade under the guise of a beauty parlour.
The girl was then sent to Dahod by Pathan along with Yadav. Police contacted the girl at her aunt's house in Dahod where she was staying. The Dahod police started tracking Yadav and once he was arrested, the other accused also landed in the police net. The only accused on the run is Charpot, who had kidnapped the young girl.
Police are currently investigating whether the accused were involved in similar incidents earlier. “We will question them in this regard and gather more information,” Zala said.
