Traffic stop leads to arrest on drug and weapons charges

On June 10, at approximately 12:55 p.m., members of Troop F's Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) were patrolling South Street in the Town of Newburgh when they observed a gray 2005 Honda Pilot in violation of the law. New York State Vehicles and Traffic.

Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Aden Albino, 19, of Newburgh and his passenger as Yael Garcia, 20, also of Newburgh. While speaking with Albino and Garcia, officers observed an open beer can in the vehicle. Troopers searched the vehicle and located a hidden compartment and a loaded Polymer 80 9mm ghost pistol with ammunition under the passenger seat of the vehicle. K-9 Kell searched the vehicle and found approximately 1 gram of LSD and approximately 562 grams of cannabis. A search of the center console trap revealed four complete AR-15 automatic switches.

Albino and Garcia were both charged with: Criminal Possession Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession Firearm, Criminal Possession Weapon 3rd Degree: Ammunition Feeding Device, Criminal Possession Rapid Fire Modification Device (Automatic Switches full AR-15) – 4 counts), controlled criminal possession of 7th degree substance and illegal possession of cannabis.

They were arraigned at Orange County Central Arraignment and then remanded to the Orange County Jail.
