Traffic stop leads to arrest of five on gun and firearms charges in Cass County | WKZO | All Kalamazoo

CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A traffic stop in Cass County led to the arrest of five people on weapons and drug charges.

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team said one of its detectives received information Wednesday about a subject who was in possession of methamphetamine and operating a vehicle. After stopping the vehicle, police found the driver, a 46-year-old man from Dowagiac, in possession of several concealed illegal knives as well as methamphetamine.

A 39-year-old passenger from Dowagiac was found to have a felony warrant for her arrest and she was arrested based on the warrant. A quantity of methamphetamine was also found on the woman and she was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Both subjects were booked into the Cass County Jail, with the man charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of methamphetamine, and the woman charged with possession of methamphetamine and her felony arrest warrant in course.

Following the stop, officers were contacted by a Michigan Department of Corrections officer who advised them to check on several subjects currently on parole and probation. Officers located the subjects in the 100 block of North Front Street in Dowagiac and observed a subject with a handgun. He was taken into custody and in possession of methamphetamine.

Officers located methamphetamine on two other men, with one also carrying a prescription for Saboxone.

Police arrested a 30-year-old Dowagiac man for carrying a concealed weapon, a felon in possession of a firearm, a felony firearm and possession of methamphetamine, a 33-year-old Dowagiac man for possession of methamphetamine and a 29-year-old man. -old man from Dowagiac for possession of methamphetamine and Saboxone.

All suspects are booked into the Cass County Jail. All charges are pending authorization from the Cass County Prosecutor's Office.

The names of the suspects are being withheld pending arraignment in Cass County 4th District Court.
