Town of Hillsborough | Arrest made after stabbing

Hillsborough police have charged a man following a May 30 stabbing in the city's north end.

Kenneth Anthony Castellano, 24, of Hillsborough, was charged with attempted first-degree murder.

After receiving a report that someone had been stabbed, Hillsborough police went to Lloyd's Quickie Mart, 110 NC 86 North, around 5 p.m. on May 30. One victim was transported to Duke Hospital in critical condition. The victim's condition became serious but stable over the weekend.

During their investigation, officers learned that the victim had been stabbed multiple times at a nearby residence in the 100 block of Lawndale Avenue and had gone to the business for help.

on May 30, Castellano was at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, where he had checked in for injuries. It is unclear whether his injuries are related to the incident.

Castellano was arrested May 31 by Greenville police after being released from medical treatment. He was transferred to the Orange County Detention Center. His bond was set at $200,000 plus $1,000 for an outstanding arrest order out of Orange County.
