The National Weather Service in Paducah has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Saline County in southern Illinois...
Williamson County in southern Illinois...

* Until 200 AM CDT.

* At 1005 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding in
Harrisburg with the fire department dispatched to a car floating
in water. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen.
Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Marion, Herrin, Harrisburg, Carterville, Eldorado, Johnston City,
Crainville, Cambria, Energy, Galatia, Hurst, Pittsburg, Creal
Springs, Carrier Mills, Lake Of Egypt Area, Raleigh, Stonefort,
Freeman Spur, Bush and Whiteash.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
