Topeka men arrested after pointing gun at law enforcement officer

SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said two men are in custody after allegedly pointing a gun at a sheriff’s office officer on Monday, July 1.

The sheriff's office issued a news release on Tuesday, July 2, regarding an incident that occurred around 3:45 p.m. on July 1 in the 2700 block of Southeast Virginia Avenue. Two men in a pickup truck exited their vehicle and allegedly pointed a gun at the officer.


Law enforcement was called to the scene and the two men were taken into custody. A firearm was seized at the scene. They have been charged with the following charges:

  • 27 year old Topeka man
    • Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon.
    • Criminal interference with law enforcement.
  • 44 year old Topeka man
    • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
