Tony Khan slams WWE for alleged 'predatory business practices'

AEW President Tony Khan has called out WWE for what he claims are “predatory business practices” against his promotion!

Earlier this week, claims emerged that the June 1 edition of AEW Collision hit a quick and shockingly low national figure of 122,000 viewers and just 34,000 in the 18-49 demographic. However, this was later debunked by Dave Meltzer, in a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, as being an alleged WWE PR ploy.

This was a number provided by WWE and for those of you who feel like WWE doesn't care about AEW or that it's a one-sided thing…AEW is at war with WWE and you know, it's a professional wrestling war, okay? These professional wrestling wars are insidious, they are brutal…

They are both engaged in a public relations war. One side is obviously much more effective at disseminating information and controlling the media, a lot of the media, because they're afraid of not having access to it or whatever. WWE, obviously whenever AEW has a low rated show, WWE makes sure the fast nationals come out.

In this case, I don't know how this number was obtained, as it was not the national speed number for Collision. Again, fast nationals aren't exactly that, but they're not far off. (with TJRWrestling)

Tony Khan Brands calls WWE business practices 'predatory'

Meltzer then reiterated his claims about X, which ultimately caught the attention of AEW head honcho himself, Tony Khan. Appearing to corroborate Meltzer's statement, Khan took a shot at WWE and claimed that AEW was the target of similar malpractices as other promotions encountered throughout the '80s.

These are the same predatory business practices that Jim Crockett Promotions + many former wrestling territories faced in the 1980s.

I'm so grateful to all of you wrestling fans who watch AEW, and AEW is here to stay.
