Toms River woman sentenced to 7 years in New Jersey prison

TOMS RIVER — A 35-year-old woman has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for robbery, aggravated assault and cocaine possession in three separate incidents in Lakewood and Brick last year, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Olivia Paige, of Toms River, will have to serve nearly six years of her prison sentence before she is eligible for parole. State Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan presided over the sentencing phase last week after Paige pleaded guilty to the crimes, according to a statement from the prosecutor's office.

The robbery occurred on Clifton Avenue in Lakewood on August 29. Paige approached a car with a woman inside and brandished a knife at the victim. She demanded money and then fled the scene after the woman in the car handed over the cash she had in her possession.

The victim was able to provide Lakewood police with a detailed description of Paige, who was at a nearby restaurant with a 5-inch knife in her possession. She was then taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, where she has been held since, according to the prosecutor's office.

This wasn’t Paige’s first brush with the law. On Jan. 11, 2023, Brick police officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a Maple Avenue convenience store and found Paige behind the building with the stolen items, the release said.

She was also found in possession of cocaine at the time of the incident, the statement said.

In another unrelated incident on April 14, 2023, Lakewood police officers responded to an area of First Street for a report of a disorderly woman and found Paige yelling profanities and acting in what was described as “an erratic manner,” the district attorney’s office said.

As officers attempted to subdue Paige, she spat in their face, the statement said.

At the same sentencing hearing Friday, Ryan sentenced Paige to three years in prison for cocaine possession in Brick and 18 months in prison for aggravated assault on Lakewood police officers. The sentences are to be served concurrently, the judge ruled.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Shanon Chant-Berry oversaw the cases on behalf of the State of New Jersey.
