Tompkins County man arrested for burglary in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — A McLean man is facing several charges related to a burglary in Ithaca.

Larry W. Stanton Jr., 34, was arrested June 1 after police said they found stolen property in his possession.


According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of College Avenue for a burglary that the caller said had just occurred. The caller reported that their apartment had been ransacked and several valuable items were missing. The caller also told police he saw a person standing in his driveway next to a gray minivan.

Police arrived on scene around 4:48 p.m. and found Stanton, who matched the description of the person seen in the alley near the residence.

Police say Stanton stole items and arrested him.

Officers then obtained a search warrant from Ithaca Municipal Court and searched Stanton's vehicle. During the search, officers found additional stolen items in the apartment.

Stanton was charged with second-degree burglary (a class C felony), third-degree grand larceny (a class D felony), third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a class D felony), and grand fourth-degree theft (a class D felony). class E felony).

Stanton was arraigned in Ithaca Municipal Court and taken to the Tompkins County Jail. He is being held without bail.
