ST. GEORGE – A 49-year-old man was arrested on a warrant issued out of American Fork after northbound police officers found him with a vehicle listed as stolen at a St. George dealership.

St. George Police officers arrested Stacey Jensen, of St. George, on Wednesday on a second-degree felony warrant issued in connection with aAn incident was reported on March 7 when Utah County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in American Fork following what was initially reported as a suspicious person call.

According to charging documents filed in Utah County 4th District Court, officers arrived to learn there was a Hyundai Veloster at the residence that was reported stolen from St. George.

The caller told officers that Jensen had gone to the residence several times that week to see a friend after he had been released from jail in Washington County about a week earlier.

Deputies were also told that Jensen showed up at the residence driving the Hyundai parked behind the home.

When police arrived on scene, they knocked on the door and were greeted by one of the occupants. Jensen was standing right behind the man who opened the door. The two men were asked to leave and were subsequently arrested by police.

Once officers confirmed Jensen's identity, he was arrested and searched before being transported to jail. Officers found a Hyundai key with the dealership tag still attached in the suspect's jacket pocket.

The vehicle had a dealer license plate and a records check confirmed the car was listed as stolen from a St. George dealership. The suspect was loaded into a patrol vehicle to head to jail while the deputy read him his rights. Jensen said he did not want to speak to the officers without an attorney present and the deputy proceeded to transport Jensen to jail without question.

During the ride, the suspect became upset and said he “stole the vehicle and was tired of being arrested,” the deputy noted in the report.

The suspect was booked into the Utah County Jail on a charge of second-degree robbery.

During this time, the deputy analyzed the suspect's criminal history, revealing that Jensen had multiple cases and convictions, as well as several open cases.

Since March, Jensen has been arrested in six different cases, including the arrest in American Fork, and has multiple convictions for theft, criminal trespass, obstruction of business, drugs and other offenses.

The warrant for which Jensen was arrested in St. George was issued earlier this month after he failed to appear at a hearing in American Fork on the vehicle theft case.

He was also incarcerated on a misdemeanor warrant issued in connection with a theft case filed in Carbon County and remains in custody on $8,300 bail.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other stakeholders and may not contain the complete findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or otherwise determined by a finder of fact.
