Three Ware residents arrested after juvenile allegedly assaulted in Greenville Park

WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – Three people from Ware were arrested last week following an investigation into an alleged assault in which a juvenile was kidnapped and beaten in Greenville Park.

According to Ware Police, officers were called to Greenville Park on Sunday, May 19 after reports of a fight between two women. Police began investigating the incident and found a video on social media purportedly showing the incident where a woman was dragging a young girl by her hair for approximately 100 feet. The victim was pushed down a hill and hit by the woman. At times in the video, the man recording can be heard encouraging the assault.


On Tuesday, May 21, Ware police arrested Ciarah Caraid-Starr de Ware and charged her with kidnapping of a child (age 15), two counts of battery and reckless endangerment of a child. Caraid-Starr was arraigned Wednesday and given a $500 bond.

On Friday, Ware police also arrested Hailey Powell of Ware for an arrest warrant in connection with the assault. She was also charged with kidnapping of a child (15 years old), battery and inadvertent endangerment of a child. She also faces charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and battery on a police officer.

When Hailey, her husband, was arrested, Arthur Powell IV de Ware, allegedly assaulted police officers and was arrested. Arthur faces charges of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, resisting the arrest of another police officer, attempting to disarm a police officer (taser) and disorderly conduct.

Hailey and Arthur were given $1,000 bail and will be arraigned on Tuesday.
