Three teens arrested after one seen brandishing fake gun

Three teenagers were arrested after one was seen brandishing an imitation firearm, police have confirmed. The youths were spotted in the Monkton Hill area of ​​Chippenham, with one described as brandishing what a member of the public believed to be a gun.

Police were called at around 10.50am, and armed response officers carried out extensive searches, including trains entering and leaving Chippenham station and a train at Bath Spa station searched.

And shortly before 2pm, thanks to the diligent work of two PCSOs, the three young people – all aged between 14 and 15 – were found in the underground car park in Chippenham town centre. Responding officers attended the scene and an imitation firearm was found and seized.

All three men were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and were transported to Melksham Police custody for further questioning and inquiries continue.

Sgt Jamie Ball said: “The arrest of these three people is the result of the excellent work of two of our OPSPs.

“Incidents of this nature can cause serious concern within a community. I would like to reassure residents that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously and that extensive research and investigations were carried out as soon as we received the initial report. »
