Three roommates suspected of being killed by another roommate identified by authorities

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The identities of three Spotsylvania County roommates who authorities say are suspected of being killed by their other roommate were released by the sheriff's office.

According to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to a home in the 10500 block of White Street Court around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 for a welfare check.


When they arrived at the home, officers found three roommates, including two men and a woman, dead inside from upper-body trauma.

The roommates were identified as Robert John McGuire, 77, Gregory Scott Powell, 60, and Carol Anne Reese, 65, all of Spotsylvania County.

The suspect, who authorities identified as Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, of Spotsylvania, had not yet been located as of 1:25 p.m. Thursday, June 6, according to the sheriff's office.

Venable is wanted on three counts of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
