Leeds United are not expected to undergo a huge overhaul of their squad this summer after missing out on promotion, but some positions are already on the radar for the recruitment team.

Daniel Farke welcomed back the first cohort of his Leeds squad to Thorp Arch this week as preparations get back underway for another crack at promotion.

Leeds are in no position to mess around this summer after losing in the playoff final, knowing the pressure is on to finish in the top two this time around.

Leeds expected to pursue signings out wide, at full-back and in attacking midfield

The Yorkshire Evening Post have revealed the state of play when it comes to Leeds' incoming transfer activity, having secured their first signing of the summer in Joe Rodon.

Part of the deal to see Archie Gray head to Tottenham, Rodon kickstarts Leeds' summer in ambitious style after a brilliant loan spell.

After that, there is not expected to be a huge deal done to Leeds' lineup according to the above report, but three positions appear to be a priority:

“Leeds are not anticipating huge amounts of movement either in or out when it comes to Farke's squad, with the manager said to be more pleased with the spine of the team than when he arrived at Elland Road a year ago.

“A £10m deal was agreed to bring Joe Rodon back to the club from Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday and though Leeds are known to have been looking extensively at wing options in preparation for the window, that business will largely be dictated by what happens with Summerville and Gnonto.

“The right-back position needs strengthening, a replacement for Gray is required and Leeds could also look at bolstering Farke's options in the number 10 role.”

Leeds have already added in attacking midfield with the return of Brenden Aaronson from his loan spell at Union Berlin, due back later in July after the USMNT were dumped out of the Copa America in the group stages.

Selling Archie Gray for £40m, good or bad business?

Three positions that Leeds need to be looking at for investment

As things stand, Leeds are in a great position with their squad, even with Gray losing to Tottenham this week.

However, these things are subject to change, especially where Summerville and Gnonto are concerned, and either of them would need a strong replacement through the doors if they leave.

As for the rest of the squad, we have what it takes with our current setup to win this league, and a few extra additions would definitely solidify that.

Depth is going to be crucial this summer to ensure we're not scraping to cover positions with versatile players playing out of their best position – see Ethan Ampadu.
