On June 7, 2024, at 7:45 a.m., officers were patrolling the 200 block of Center Street when they observed King at the door of a residence. Officers knew King had a warrant out of Will County for robbery. They approached King and started a conversation. He then ran inside the building and into an apartment. Officers chased King to the second floor, where King jumped out of a window and then fled on foot.

While searching for King, Joliet Police received a call of a subject jumping into an occupied vehicle (a black Ford Explorer) at the intersection of Hickory St. and Western Ave. The victim was “pushed” out of his vehicle as the subject got into the front seats and left. The victim escaped the incident unharmed. She gave officers a description of the subject and it matched King's description.

Officers found the Ford Explorer a short time later in the 900 block of Cora St. Officers learned that King took the property from the Ford Explorer when he fled from the Ford. Officers received information that King rushed to a residence located in the 900 block of N. Center Street.

The police surrounded the residence and arrested the occupants. All the occupants got out except King. Tovar was in the garage of the residence when the residence was surrounded. Tovar was checked for arrest warrants. He was not summoned to appear and was taken into custody. Davis was one of the occupants who came out of the N. Center Street residence. He was checked for arrest warrants and officers discovered Davis had a warrant out of LaSalle County and were taken into custody. Officers checked the residence and found King hiding in the residence. King was taken into custody without further incident.

Once in custody, King was injured when he jumped out of a second story window. He was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, where he was treated and released to police. King was taken to the Joliet Police Department for processing and then to the Will County Adult Detention Center without incident.
