This operation was part of an ongoing effort to combat the trafficking of drugs and other substances covered by the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) within the city.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged with multiple offenses under the Criminal Code of Canada and the CDSA:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine: Indicates Laird was found with methamphetamine, likely intended for sale. The penalty if convicted can be up to life in prison.
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Morphine: Suggests possession of morphine for sale, also punishable by a potential sentence of life in prison.
